Jog a thon

Nick participated in his school's jog a thon in September.  The students raised money for the school by running laps around a track.  Nick ran 20 laps!  We are noticing that he is a natural runner.  He had some pretty sore legs for a couple of days after that!

Indianapolis Zoo

The boys and I took advantage of a beautiful Sunday in September to go to the zoo.  It had been awhile since we had been and there was a new bird exhibit to see as well as an adaorable baby elephant!  Ben enjoyed seeing eye to eye with the tiger!

A fishing Dragon

Nick attended a birthday party for a friend a couple of weeks ago.  This is what he was wearing when I picked him up!  So glad we got a picture of this amazing balloon animal!  It made it home in one piece, somehow!

Go Eagles!

Now that Nick is a kindergartener, he is learning about school pride and spirit day!  On a recent Friday we took in a Zionsville High School football game.  The boys all wore their Zionsville Eagles t-shirts to cheer the Eagles onto a win over the Shamrocks 35 to 17!  The game really held their attention, too, along with the m&m's, skittles, starburst.......

Fun with Friends

With Nick in school full days now it's a challenge to get together with our "old" playgroup friends.  We recently got together to celebrate Scooby Doo's birthday!  The kids all had a mystery to solve and then ended the party with a baseball game and soccer game!  What a fun afternoon!

Zionsville Fall Festival

In early September we went to the Zionsville fall festival.  Our little town puts on an amazing little festival complete with a parade, lots of food, rides and games.  The kids loved the rides almost as much as the carnival games!  Nick is developing a love of fast rides, like the Scrambler, just like his mom!

Time to make a flower craft for mommy!

Fishing!  They amazingly all caught one!

Stormy seas ahead!  We never did get rained on, believe it or not!

Ben's favorite part of the day!

Labor Day weekend in Brown Co.

Over the long holiday weekend in September we enjoyed a little peace and quiet, well attempted to with 3 little boys, in Brown Co, Indiana.  It's a short 1 1/2 hours drive from our house to the beautiful wooded country.  We rented a cabin in the woods for the weekend.

Breakfast the first morning.

Horseshoes!

Nick thought it was essential to have a huge stick while hiking in his pajamas the first morning!

This was the destination of our hike that morning, a small bench on the other side of the ravine.

 Our cabin in the woods!

There were only 2 "tall chairs" for the counter bar, so we had to make do!  Ben didn't seem to mind too much.

The rain started after the first 24hours of being at the cabin, and it didn't stop until the day we left, 3 days later!  The boys thought stomping in the mud was the best thing ever!

We did have a little break from the rain on Monday morning, just long enough to go fishing at the state park!

The boys' favorite part of fishing is buying the worms, getting their tackle together and talking about fishing!  They loose interest pretty quickly, but stayed at it just long enough for a few cute pictures.

When the rain started again we headed to the indoor water park!

We visited Columbus, IN, just down the road, and got to experience a very cool children's museum!  The kids had so much fun crafting, playing games, blowing bubbles and lots more.  They even entered the museum through a door that was just their size!

The museum also had an enormous toilet tunnel slide!  Sam and Ben weren't too sure about it, but Nick loved it, as any 5 1/2 year old boy would!

Across the street from the museum there was a huge indoor climbing structure that we played on.  It was the perfect rainy day activity!

On the final day we went into the town on Nashville for lunch, a bit of shopping and our traditional train ride!  We are happy to report that everyone stayed awake on the train this year, unlike in years past when Sam fell asleep, both times.
