More Senior Pictures

I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of Nick and Phoebe sporting their IU gear and cap and gowns.  

 

May Continues

There's no denying now what is coming up at the end of the month!  Nick brought home his cap and gown.  The school issued them early in the month so that we had plenty of time to take pictures!  Which we did!  Nick's friends organized a professional photographer to take a big group picture in our village.  They turned out really good!  

So many finals this month.  The final Finale for Phoebe for her show choir group.  Nick and I attended, he had a special shirt from our family friend, Nicole to wear for the occasion!  

Nick and Grace have been friends since before they were one! 

Ben and I driving to the Humane Society for our shift.  Ben is almost legal to drive now!

 

We took a trip to Illinois to visit Grandma Bonnie.  It's always good to see her!  

We made a quick stop at McDonalds and Nick was a good sport to get a picture. Class dismissed, almost....

My pickleball pals.  We get together and play about once a week.  Jody and I have had a goal of walking a 1/2 marathon before the summer began.  We convinced our other 2 pickle pals to join in!  We have a lovely rail trail in our town that was the perfect trail for our marathon walk! 

And of course the month of May isn't complete without the Indy 500 race!  It was a really cool, comfortable day for a race!

This is May!

May is always a full month in the Indianapolis area!  This year is extra full it seems.  Here are a few things that have happened so far...

Eric, Ben and his buddy Harry and I went to the Indy 800 and the burnout competition.  The Indy 800 race on Friday night was a lot of fun.  PT Cruisers raced around an oval which included a jump!  The big attraction  of the night was the Grand Vic race.  Saturday afternoon was the burnout competition.  After learning to sit up wind, (there was a lot of smoke from the burning tire rubber!!), it was fun to watch!  The organizer, Cleetus McFarland brings all of these cars with his team to put on a very entertaining and fun show.

It rained a bit on Friday night, but that didn't stop their smiles!

This was the end result of the PT Cruiser race!  No one was injured, amazingly so!

Saturday's burnout competition.  

This was the line of cars waiting their turn to 'Burn it out"!  There were some outrageous ones!  Our favorites were a boat fashioned with a car engine and tires and a minivan with a jet engine!  

Every once in a while you could see a glimpse of the the car in all of that smoke!

Ben and I had an opportunity to meet an Indy race car driver, Colton Herta,

 at the Humane Society.  Colton's team began a partnership with the Humane Society and was at the facility for a special meet and greet for the volunteers!  He hung out taking pictures, answering questions and autographed a hat for Ben. 

Let's go Pacers!

We went to a play off game! Unfortunately it was the only game that the Pacers lost in the series against the Cavaliers.  

Nick missed out as he was in Orlando for a business club meeting for school!  He and his team qualified for the national meeting.  They did well placing 4th in the nation!

Nick had a good time in Orlando.  The group went to Disney's Magic Kingdom and enjoyed the big water park at their hotel.  The competition was a neat experience for Nick.  They had to work through a business scenario. prepare a presentation and answer questions from the judges.  He competed and advanced at a local level in December and state level in March to qualify to go to Nationals in Orlando!  

Eric, Ben and his friend Colin and I went to another race, the Indy Grand Prix.  It was a road course at the Indianapolis Speedway.  After the race the fans were allowed to walk the track.  It was crazy how much rubber was on the track from the tires.

Ruby sums up Mother's Day, nicely.  I had a relaxing day chilling with Ruby on the front porch, planting flowers and enjoyed a steak dinner on the patio with all of the family at the end of the day.

 

Ben's Confirmation

Ben has been confirmed in the Catholic Church!  He chose St. Francis of Assisi to be his saint.  We are so happy with his decision to continue to grow in his faith! He has been meeting monthly since August to complete his studies. 

Ben chose our friend Dave to be his sponsor.  After mass the 7 of us went to dinner at Convivio, an Italian restaurant in Zionsville.  It was a beautiful evening!
