Costa Rica excursions

Zip-lining was at the top of our "to do" list, and it was amazing!  Zip-lining originated in Costa Rica we learned.  We spent the day at the Diamante Eco Adventure Park, an hour's car ride from our resort.  The morning was spent zipping through the jungle at crazy fast speeds, very far above the ground! The highlight was the Superman Zip-line where you laid down like Superman while traveling for a mile.  Ben's most memorable moment was when he got stuck on that particular run and had to be rescued by the guide, holding onto his foot as they traveled onto the landing.  Sure glad I didn't learn about that part of the adventure until a few runs later!  

 

We also had a horseback ride through the jungle and onto the beach. So pretty!

We ended our day at Diamante on the beautiful beach.

We had one more excursion, a sunset cruise with snorkeling.  Eric and I thought this sounded amazing, and it was, except we were the only family on board and only one other couple that was not honeymooning.  HaHa! 

The crew played fun, loud music, we saw colorful fish and the crew was so friendly!  And it was amazing to be out on the open ocean on a catamaran!  This was the first time we all snorkeled together as a family.  The ocean was really calm and everyone loved it! 

Costa Rica was Pura Vida!  We can't wait to return for another visit someday!

 

Pura Vida!

We experienced Pura Vida in Costa Rica for fall break!

We had intended to go to Costa Rica during the spring of 2020.  Covid had other plans for us.  As soon as we determined it was safe for us to travel out of the country, we rescheduled and were on our way!

We stayed at a resort on the beach in northern town of Tamirinda for the week.  It was beautiful.  The beach was quite large, perfect for long walks, boggie boarding, surfing and horseback riding! The resort also had an amazing pool with a swim up bar.  The boys had lunch there several times during our stay, and Eric and I may have indulged in a few cocktails there, as well!

We had a visit from the howler monkeys, the native monkeys liked to climb along the roof line and into the huge tree above our breakfast spot. They also liked to make loud howling noises!  What a fun sight to see!  We also spotted huge bearded dragons making their way, feeding on the local plants.  

The boys and Eric took surf lessons, I stayed on shore to hold the towels and take pictures.  The waves were pretty fierce, the boys all took to them and had a good time!  

October was considered the off season and the rainy season.  It would cloud up some afternoons and  would rain sometimes.  We were treated to a couple of beautiful sunsets on the beach when the clouds stayed away.  

 

Every day we watched this guy come by with this horses, finally I convinced Ben to ride with me.  It was so much fun galloping in and out of the surf!
