Eclipse, 2017

On August 21st we experienced an eclipse in central Indiana.  The eclipse was at 90% totality in our area of the country.  The kids were excused from school to view the eclipse with their families, so I picked up the boys early and after stopping off for lunch we headed home to our own outdoor classroom!  Eric happened to have a slow day at work and was home to watch the action with us.  Right after we saw the eclipse at it's 90%, the clouds moved in.  I was so glad we saw what we could from our backyard.
There will be another eclipse in 7 years and at that time we will be in the 100% totality zone!  We are all looking forward to that day!

First Day of School!

Here they are, eager for the first days of 3rd, 4th and 5th grades!
For the first time the boys are at different schools and we have 2 bus schedules.  Sam and Ben are at the elementary school and leave the house 40 minutes before Nick, who's in middle school.

Looking more like a little business man than 5th grader with his laptop on his shoulder!

The first day of school was a success, all of the boys like their teachers and they were all happy to see their friends again after the summer.  It's going to be a great year!

One last day of summer...

It's the day before school begins, and our annual trip to the Indiana State Fair, a favorite summer tradition for our family.
We saw animals, rode rides, ate fried food and enjoyed the day!

School again? Already??

Somehow Nick is in middle school!!  5th grade is middle school in our town, lockers, changing classrooms and all!  He is so ready and will do great!
We found our way through the new school at the orientation and feel pretty confident that I won't get lost!  Nick's got it down pat!

A visit from our cousins

Our cousins Jack, Grace and Emily and their parents came for a visit this summer.  It's so much fun to have cousins!
We took them to Connor Prairie to learn a little bit about living in the olden days.

Grace and Ruby and greeting one another.

A fun ride in the Jeep!

Jumping around with a couple of friends.

Grace was invited to be in a fashion show.  We all went to show our support and see some very pretty ladies and gentlemen.  This was our boys' first fashion show!
Grace and her very own fan club.
