The Greatest Spectacle in Racing!

Memorial Day weekend is always an exciting weekend in Indianapolis.  Our tradition as of the past few years has been to attend the Indianapolis 500 race.  This year we got to share the excitement of the Indy 500 with our niece Anna and her husband, Keegan.  They drove to our home on Saturday evening from Illinois.  Sunday morning we were up bright and early to go to the race.  Ben invited his friend Harry to go, also.  Sam and Nick chose to not go to the race this year, leaving us with extra tickets.

Josef Newgarden was the big winner this year in an exciting finish.  Keegan won our family competition by drawing Newgarden's name out of a hat.  He will have bragging rights until next year's race!  We stayed after the race to watch the post race activities of a victory lap, kissing of the bricks (the winner and his team kneel down and kiss the bricks at the finish line) and hear an interview with Newgarden.  Such a fun day!

Later that night our neighbors Gene and Nancy invited Eric and I to attend the post race dinner on Monday night, the following night.  What a fun and unique opportunity for us!  After a cocktail and pictures with the Borg Warner trophy, Newgarden's winning car and the car Newgarden won for wining the race, we enjoyed dinner and then interviews with each of the drivers.  The drivers are pretty young and were very entertaining to listen to and hear about the shenanigans that happen behind the scenes!

Grad parties

Happy Graduation Isabelle!  Our good friend Isabelle graduates from high school this year and we were all there for her party.  We've known Isabelle since we first moved to Indiana.  She is headed off to college at IU in August!
Good luck Isabelle!  We can't wait to see how you change the world with your sweet, smart self!

Goodbye to middle school!

So long middle school!  Ben is moving on up to high school!  ZWEST has treated us well, I am looking forward to having all 3 boys at the same school again!
The kids celebrate the final day of 8th grade with a carnival ran by the parents.  I volunteered and was lucky enough to get a picture with Ben.

Spring Sports

Our spring evenings and weekends are very full watching Nick play soccer and Sam play baseball.
Nick continues to play the goal keeper position for his team with ZYSA.  It's so fun to watch him go after that ball and make a lot of amazing saves.  He is fearless!

Sam tried out and made the high school freshman baseball team!  He is a pitcher only and has really honed in on his pitching skills, spending the off season participating in a pitching clinic and building his muscles at the gym!  It's really paid off, too!

Mother's Day

Ellen and Lisa came to visit on Mother's Day weekend.  We had the best time together.  We went to the Art Museum, shopping and for pedicures. Then we returned home for charcuterie and wine on the patio.   Sunday morning we enjoyed breakfast on the patio before they had to go home.  Eric took care of the boys and their needs all weekend so that I could spend the time with my sisters.  What a gift!
