Staying Home

Grandpa Dan and Grandma Jill came for a visit, before our world changed.  They came to visit with the hopes of catching Nick's basketball game on Thursday night, March 12.  In the course of just a few hours our world was turned upside down.  Coronavirus had taken hold of our community and state and all activities, including school, were cancelled on Thursday afternoon.  We sure were grateful to have a short, but sweet visit with these 2!

We made a visit to Eric's office over the weekend so that he could pick up some important stuff.  It was the first time we all saw his beautiful new office building!

Nick's future???

Our beloved red chairs are being upgraded!  Ruby and Louise are sitting in protest.

School days as we know it now.
Electronic Days from home now occupy our days.
Ruby is not complaining.

Happy 11th Birthday Ben!

We celebrated Ben's 11th Birthday on  March 6!  After the day at school he opened presents and then we all went to the Melting Pot for a fondue dinner.  Yum!

Ben's brothers know him well and picked out a burrito blanket, the perfect wrap of a blanket for Ben! Ben saved up all of his birthday money and put it towards a new iPad.  He is anxiously awaiting its arrival in the mail!

On Sunday afternoon 7 of Ben's buddies came over.  We took advantage of the beautiful day and the kids enjoyed playing outside for a bit before we loaded up our vehicles and headed to Dave and Busters for a birthday bash!

At 11 years old Ben has a love for all things electronics.  He tells us he would like to be an engineer someday, and I believe it.  He loves his doggies and is often found snuggling up to them on their beds.  He loves Boy Scouts, plays piano well and his favorite subject is math.  He prefers to stay up late and sleep in in the morning.  A teenager in training, we like to tell him.  He still gives the best hugs and has a special love for his family.

Look mom, no glasses!

Nick has worn glasses since before he turned 2.  He has been relentlessly asking for contacts since last summer.  Today was the day!
After  a couple of weeks of practice Nick has the process down pat.  He loves the freedom that contacts have given him, especially when playing basketball.
I love that I can see his beautiful blue eyes more clearly!

A look back at those first days with glasses.  Be still my heart.  Why does time have to pass so quickly....
