The end of the school year involves lots of projects and celebrations.
Sam's 2nd grade class had the opportunity to participate in a subject fair. They were able to chose the subject they wished to research and present their infomation in a class fair.
Sam choose the Green Bay Packers. He had lots of fun learning about the team and it's history.
There was no shortage of Packer attire for Sam to choose from to wear for the presentation!
Sam gets his love for the Packers from his Grama and Grampa Schraufnagel!
In 3rd grade the kids choose a specialty animal to research and present at their class fair. Nick chose the Blue Whale. He wrote a report about the blue whale and also made a clay figure and habitat.
He did a great job with his presentation and research!
Ben's teacher had a special Mother's Day celebration for the kids and their moms. Ben and I spent the morning together rotating through various stations where Ben read me a story, interviewed me with important questions like what I liked to eat and drink, and even drew my portrait! It was an adorable morning spent together!
As a first grader, Ben published a book titled PVZ2 (Plants vs. Zombies 2).
Ben really likes to play the game Plants vs. Zombies on his iPod. He's very fond of the plants, but not so much the zombies, thankfully!
He's very proud of his Young Authors Book!
Nick participated in the class play at our elementary school. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the production this year and Nick's role was a red Oompa Loompa! He had been rehearsing since March in preparation for the 3 May performances. He had a few lines and thoroughly enjoyed being in the spotlight! Only 3rd and 4th graders are allowed to be in the play. Nick is already planning to be in the play next year, as is Sam!
A chocolate bar was Nick's special treat in lieu of flowers!
The 3rd graders spend a semester learning about sharks. After all the learning they got to dissect a spiny dogfish shark! Eric was one of the parent volunteers helping the kids. He took his role very seriously!
This year I was lucky enough to teach Zionsville history to Nick and his classmates. 3rd graders in Indiana learn about their local history. Once a month I attended a class at the local culture center to learn the months' lesson of Zionsville history, then took my new knowledge to the classroom to share with the 3rd graders. The class ended with a tour of our little historic Main St. It was a lot of fun and I loved being a part of Nick's class this year! I also enjoyed learning a few facts about our sweet little town and it's brick streets!
