Hooray for the Presidents!
We escaped the cold temperature of Indiana over the President's day weekend by spending time in Sunny Isles, Florida. It was so nice to see the sun, ocean and sand and relax for a few days together.
Hello sunshine!
After breakfast on the first morning we walked down to greet the ocean.
Silly me, I didn't think those boys would actually get into the ocean in full clothing!
Lucky Sam, he got to spend his special day on the beach!
Happy 7th birthday Sam!
Nick made him a sandcastle cake!
Sam was thrilled with his birthday present; snazzy Michael Jordan attire!
A family self portrait.
It's hard to sit still when you are 6, 7 and 8!
As tradition, Nick lost a tooth on Sam's birthday, 3 years in a row now.
We stayed at a resort that really catered to families. The kids attended a kids camp part of the time where they made crafts, played games, played on the beach, ate fun snacks and hung out with other kids and adults that were a lot more fun than Eric and I! They asked to go to the camp each day, which left Eric and I alone, on the beach, with books and a few cocktails!
The temperature was in the low 70's, over 50 degrees warmer than where we had just come from! The ocean was cool, but the pool was heated. No complaints from us!
On our last night we went out to dinner at our favorite seafood restaurant, Red Lobster's. (sometimes doing the easy thing, is actually the easiest!) Nick ordered the crab legs and destroyed them! I think he just found his new favorite food!
One last look at the ocean before heading back home to Indiana.
It was a perfect weekend get-a-way from the long winter, one that I think might just become a new tradition for the Horn family!
