Louisville

Sam's next tournament was in Louisville, KY.  We all went to cheer Sam on.  Nick joined us a day later due to work, driving down on his own.  It was Nick's first solo road trip. Eric and I were so relieved to see him when he pulled up to our rental!

Sam and his team played well.  Besides baseball, they had a free day to hangout together team building over Top Golf and pizza!

While Sam spent the day with his team, the rest of us went to Churchill Downs to teach Ben and Nick about horse racing.
Nick learned quickly that betting on horses wasn't as easy as it looks!
It was a very warm afternoon but we found a shady spot to watch the races and enjoy a bourbon drink.

This was our home for the long weekend.  We stayed in this cute historic home in Old Louisville.  It was across the street from a large park and within walking distance to a few restaurants which we all enjoyed! The porch was just right for sitting and reading books in the late afternoons.

June Happenings

June is in full swing. Here are the things that have kept us on the go.

We took Nick on his first official college visit to Indiana University!  We were all so impressed with our tour and loved the campus, too.

Ben spent a week at Boy Scout camp, Camp Ransburg, which happens to be near the IU campus.  Ben forgot a few things so we "swung by" and dropped them off to him.  I loved seeing Ben at camp.  He had a big hug for me!

My college roommate's daughter Sarah graduated from High School.  I went to her grad party and got to catch up with Meg for the night.  They live in the Chicago area.

SAm is playing summer travel ball with the Mustangs this summer.  Their first out of town tournament was in Atlanta.  Eric took Sam to this tournament.  They stayed in downtown Atlanta.  When baseball games were all done for the day, they enjoyed a lovely dinner on Father's Day on the top floor of this building, they visited the aquarium and also took in an Atlanta Braves baseball game!  I think it was good quality time spent together for these two!

Towards the end of the month my sisters Lisa and Ellen came over for a weekend visit.  We lounged by the pool and went for a sunset dinner cruise as well.  We always stay up way too late talking and enjoying a glass of wine together when they come visit!  It's the best!

New York!

Eric and I spent a long weekend in New York.  We went to see Billy Joel perform at Madison Square Garden.  This was his 149th concert at MSG!  We read that he was going to stop performances at the Garden at 150 concerts.  We didn't want to miss seeing him there!  It was an incredible concert, I think we could sing along with all but 1 song.  Billy Joel had a special guest that night on stage with him Trey Anastasio, the guitarist from Phish.  It was such a great concert!

We also got to see Jessica and Kevin and visited Kevin's firehouse in the city.  We had breakfast together and then took a walk in Central Park, as one does in NYC!

A trip to NYC isn't complete without a Broadway Show!  We saw The Heart of Rock and Roll, a story set to the music of Huey Lewis and the News.  I'm always so impressed with Broadway Shows.
Fun fact, Huey Lewis and the News was the first concert that I went to as a teenager.  My sister Lisa took me!

We also spent a few hours in the afternoon at the Met, enjoying a little art!

It was an action packed, fun filled weekend!  Bye for now NYC!

29 years!

Happy Anniversary to us!  29 years and counting.  Eric and I enjoyed a sunset cruise on our little pontoon boat and then dinner at our favorite, Rick's Boatyard Cafe.  It was a beautiful evening.
It's so crazy how fast the years pass when you're just living them.
We sure do enjoy living these years together!
